This is my depiction of my step-father. He was a living nightmare, though I had fear of spiders under my bed and "things" unknown too. I would have to jump into and out of bed for fear of being pulled under it, and far away from everything I knew. The biggest fear I guess was based in some reality. I took the trailer and put it together with my childhood fear (step-father) and have done my best to depict the fears I grew up with. Very cathartic, as this fear is something I have never "out grown" and today have learned to live with. The story and image are very rich with both imaginations and the reality of my childhood. This was actually a great piece to work on though disturbing at times as well. Challenge offered , challenge meet.
When I read the short story included, I see the connection your going for. The colors are nice and offer an older school illustration. The depiction reminds me of something like Brothers Grimm story. I think you may of cleaned it up a little more and the words in the story maybe fit a little better. I think over all in its entirety the work is pretty amazing. The characters of the piece are really neat and are very unique. The Butcher is creepy and so are the minions. Being able to get the children in the cages in the underground is a very frightening thought. The vortex under the bed holds a disturbing concept and that the minions are there to make sure the children end up in the vortex, well I just love the darkness of this tale. Your fear is depicted in a unique and quite disturbing creation. I really love the book on the bed and how it shows the scene if someone notices the details within this image. Really great work keep it up!! Good Luck!

I think your work here is very dark and well created. The depiction of your fear is done with a quite unique layout and the details are pretty neat, reminds me of Brothers Grimm in a way. Good luck, hope other see the story you have here and you get the notice I think this piece should. Worthy of being noticed.
I thank you for the comment and the critique. I must say this image was something that evolved in concept. I had to search these childhood fears and this one was the one that gave me the most inspiration to work with. Also I found it to be different from common childhood fears.
Thank you Elise.
